EXIM Bank Tanzania has donated two water storage tanks with the capacity of storing 10,000 litres of water to Pwani Primary School in Kunduchi village that will help in rain harvesting at the school.
Speaking during the handover ceremony at the school premises yesterday, the Pwani Primary School Head Teacher Fredy Sudy said the donation will help in the availability of safe and clean water at the school especially at the time of water supply inconsistencies rocking Dar es Salaam City.
“Pupils have been forced to go back to their homes in search of drinking water and at sometimes beg water from the neighboring communities. We are grateful that Exim bank has been able to come to our rescue.
“After securing the water tanks, we will call for a parents meeting this weekend to ensure that the water harvesting project at the school is sustainable,” he said.
Earlier, Sudy pointed out that the school has got various challenges among which include toilet facilities and desks thus calling upon more companies to render support to the school.
The Exim Bank Tanzania Public Relations and Marketing Manager Linda Chiza during the event urged pupils to make good use of the water tanks so that they can serve them for a long time.
“These tanks are now yours. Ensure that they are always in good condition so they can continue serving you for a long time.” she stressed.
She however called upon the students to develop a saving culture while still young that will help them sustain their lives in the future urging that her bank has got specific accounts to cater for children’s needs.
