Tourist Board is pleased to announce that the second edition of S!TE will take
place from October 1 – 3rd at the Mlimani City Convention Centre,
Dar-es-salaam.
According to
the Acting Managing Director, Ms. Devota Mdachi, preparations for the Expo are
at their final stage .One hundred (100) exhibiting companies from United
Kingdom, South Africa, Seychelles, Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania will participate
in this year event compared to the Forty (40) exhibitors who participated in
the event last year which makes an increment of more than 100%. In addition,
Forty three (43) International Hosted Buyers (Tour Operators, Packagers and
Travel Agents, Wholesalers) including international Travel writers will fully
participated in the three-day Expo (exhibition).. The number of buyers has
tremendously increased from Nineteen (19) of last year to 43 hosted buyers and
travel writers. The hosted buyers will do a pre S!TE tour in Zanzibar and a
post S!TE tour in LakeManyara National Park and Ngorongoro Crater.
Two thousands
(2000) visitors from Tanzania, Uganda, Seychelles, United States, United
Kingdom, India, Russia, South Africa, Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda, and Germany are
expected to visit the S!TE event among them, are prominent media professionals,
diplomats and travel trade executives. In its totality, leading tourism
professionals, companies and other participants will attend or visit the Expo.
“As for
Sponsorship we are very much pleased to also announce that Forty one 41 public
and private companies have extended sponsorship for this year SITE in three
categories namely Platinum, Gold and Silver” says Devota. She named Ethiopian
Airline as company whose sponsorship is in platinum category as has offered 25
international return tickets for hosted buyers from different countries to
Tanzania attending Swahili International Tourism Expo (S!TE). Ethiopian Airline
is the only sponsor in the platinum Category and it is sponsoring the Expo for
the second time.
The companies
in Gold Category are Fastjet, South African Airways, Ramada Hotels, Sopa
Lodges, Fab cars and Gibbs Farm. The remaining thirty six (36) companies are
under the Silver Category.
The EXPO will
focus on inbound and outbound travel to Africa and will take the format of a
travel and trade exhibition with a conference element, concentrating on topical
tourism, sustainability, conservation and other market related issues.
Presentations of tourism related topics will be made by different high profile
international tourism speakers. There will also be a cultural pavilion which
will form the eclectic heartbeat of the event; with a pulse that draws from the
hidden treasures that lies within the continent. Cultural activities such as
traditional dances performed by the Tumaini University, Arusha branch and
Tanzanian music from Utalii Band, Dar es salaam will also be showcased during
the event .
