Precision Air Services
Plc (PW), took home the Best Domestic Scheduled Airline in Tanzania award again
on Friday night from Tanzania Society of Tanzania Agents (TASOTA) 2013 Awards. The prestigious travel award was presented by Executive Secretary Tourism Confederation of
Tanzania, Richard Rugimbana to PW Commercial Director Patrick Ndekana at
Hyatt Regency, the Kilimanjaro hotel in Dar es Salaam.
This
is the 4th time that the Airline has earned the title that comes as
no surprise due to it’s notable dominance in the Aviation industry in the
market as a successful and aggressive local Airline. PW began its four
consecutive wins in 2004 followed by uncontested winning in 2008, 2011 and now
2013.
Commenting
on the milestone Precision Air’s Commercial Director Patrick Ndekana said, “We
are proud and honored to continuously be named Best Domestic Scheduled Airline
in the country as a testimony to Precision Air being The Airline of Choice in
the country and it’s great to know Tanzanians agree.”
On
the other hand TASOTA’s Chairman, Moustafa Khataw, said “We have witnessed an
increase in flight frequency, new airlines, more hotels opening up in many
parts of the country which is a good indicator of economic growth and to see
Precision Air continue to maintain its winning position year after year truly
puts the Airline in a class by itself”.
It is also to be
remembered that not too long ago the Airline received the award for Top 20
Tanzanian Consumer Superbrands for 2012/2013, compiled by London-based The
Centre for Brands Analysis. This rating recognized PW’s strong growth and
indisputable brand recognition, and cements even further its position as the
preferred regional airline with the most destinations and frequencies in
Tanzania.
As
the largest ATR operator in Africa, with PW, Tanzania regions are no longer
worlds apart. The Airline continues to spearheaded regional transport
breakthrough ahead of other players. ATRs have the ability to land on small Airports
and have become a catalyst for PW to spread its wings widely in remote parts of
the country including the recently launched Mbeya route in the Southern parts
of the country.
Precision Air being the
first airline to put its footprint into to Mbeya, operates daily and has so far
uplifted over 20,217 since January although the lack of fuel at Songwe Airport
which limit the number of passengers that can be carried as fuel has to be
uplifted from DAR.
With PW’s main hub
being Dar es Salaam, the airline currently operates over 57 flights a day and
serves 10 destinations with the recent frequency increase in Mwanza by the
introduction of 30fights per week. PW also is scheduled to place further
domestic frequencies in Mtwara 11 flights from the current 7 per week and Mbeya
to 11flights from the current 7per week by the end of 2013.
Precision Air has the largest
network in the country.
