ASSISTANT Editor in-charge of week end publications of Tanzania Standard Newspapers (TSN) Media Group Mr Cassian Kigeso Malima (in picture) passed away at Aga Khan Hospital in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
The late Malima joined TSN on October 1,2004 as Principal Journalist Grade 2 and he rose to become News Editor. He was also the founding editor of the Daily News sister paper-Habarileo. He was appointed on August 1, 2006 to lead a team that laid the foundation of the Government’s Kiswahili language newspaper.
He was recently promoted to Assistant Editor in charge of week end publications. “He was resourceful, jovial and everyone’s friend. Malima exuded respect at all levels” said TSN Media Group Managing Editor Mr Isaac Mruma when announcing the death of Mr Malima.
“We have lost not only a colleague but a universal friend, who was always ready to take up any assignment. He was extremely royal. We pray to the Almighty God to rest his soul in eternal peace. Amen.” added Mr Mruma.
Born in 1965, the late Malima was holding a master degree in journalism obtained in Russia in 1994. Until his death, he was the Secretary of Tanzania Editors’ Forum and Chairman of Tanzania Parliamentary Reporters Association.
The late Malima was admitted at the Aga Khan hospital in Dar es Salaam on Saturday-January 3, 2009. The late Malima’s Wife Hellen Maro, with whom he had a daughter, died on May 19,2006.
