Exim bank donates 100 desks worth 8m/- to Kilakala Primary School.
EXIM Bank Tanzania has donated 100 desks worth eight million shillings to Kilakala Primary School in Temeke Municipal Council in Dar es Salaam as part of the bank’s unique Corporate Social Responsibility Programme (CSR) that seeks to increase the bank’s support to various community activities where the bank operates.
The Exim Board Managing Director Anthony Grant officiating at the event held at Kilakala Primary School yesterday said the bank that celebrates its 15th Anniversary this August has decided to adopt the school since the approach will tend to create a big impact to the school in a long run.
Grant said the bank will continue to provide the school in various aspects after undertaking a survey that proved that the school faces an adequate shortage of scholastic materials including desks.
“We are today announcing a new bond between Exim Bank and Kilakala Primary School. We are today handing over 100 desks but we will continue to support the school in various aspects.
“We believe our partnership will go a long way in ensuring that the school has a conducive learning environment. We understand the role education plays in both social and economic aspects that is why we have decided to support various education initiatives,” he said. Grant said that it was important for Exim Bank to focus on a few projects that make an impact on communities instead of distributing the limited financial resources to different community development projects.
“Once we are done and satisfied that our objectives have been achieved and the school is well equipped, then we will pick another project using the same philosophy”, he said. The Kilakala Primary School Head Teacher Abdul Kutarasa who received the desks on behalf of the school thanked the bank for its timely support and pledged to make good use of the desks.
“We are so grateful that Exim Bank has managed to respond to our call. We believe this new partnership will take us a long way in creating a better learning environment,” he said.
